Hope Of God Church Hong Kong Started in 1992

Hope of God Church Hong Kong started in November 1992. Pastor Arlene led the first Hope of God Church Hong Kong Sunday worship in a room in YMCA, Wanchai. Our very first Sunday Worship Service began with three persons.

In the next year, Dr. Gavin and Brother Allen joined the church. We started to have Cantonese, English and Thai Sunday services for worshippers of different language groups. When the first church camp was held in Aug 1993, there were 50 attendees.

The Congregation Reached 100 Persons In 1996

1996 was a significant year. The church grew to 100 persons. The Student Group and Sri Lankan Group were established respectively. We saw the need to own a place as a permanent base for the office and other activities. Within six months, brothers and sisters contributed HK$1.2 Million and we successfully purchased a premise at Yik Hon Building, North Point.

In October 2001, our Praise & Worship Team organized the first Hope Concert. 400 members and visitors had a fabulous time praising and worshipping God with great music.

In July 2002, we moved our church office and service venue to Kwan Chart Building, Wanchai. The Cantonese service was held on the 8th Floor, which could accommodate up to 200 people. The English service on the 5th Floor could sit up to 50. Yet the Thai service is still being held at our premise in North Point.

Another breakthrough in 2008

In accordance with God¡¦s guidance and by the grace of God, Hope of God Church Hong Kong moved to another much bigger venue in Tsuen Wan. The size of the venue is about 8000 square feet, which can accommodate around 700-800 people. Currently, we have Youth Service on Saturdays.

Cantonese and Filipino Services are held on Sundays in the morning and afternoon respectively while our Thai congregation still holds its service in our North Point venue. Since moving to Tsuen Wan, we have a bigger field for us to reach out to. And this is our desire to reach out Tsuen Wan community by bringing gospel to people living there. Currently we have about 400 membership.
